Trimble R10 - Opinions (Land Surveying)
I'm in a race of sorts to impact this years budget before June 30th.
I've been told we have "some money" for GPS aquisition, I've not been given
a specific figure.
We're currently running a Trimble S6, with a TSC2 collector with radio,
as well as a Trimble CU to run on the instrument.
Software has to date been Survey Pro robotics, with the recent add on of
basic spectra precision office to handle *.survey files.
I know I'm opening myself up to a broadside here..... but here goes!
My preference is to stay with "Team Yellow" as a preference to keep things
as compatible as possible.
1. We're inside the ORGN network that's up and running in our area. So I'm
thinking our existing TSC2 would need a cell modem card.
Which ones out there are working well for everyone??
2. I'm thinking of a hardware array of 2 R10 units with radios so that they
could both act as RTK rovers on the ORGN. Together with one of those great
"new" narrow band radios so that if there is a cell dissruption or a place
with poor coverage, we could use one as a base, and the other as a rover.
3. To round this out for the most flexiblity I can think of (for now) would be
a TSC3 collector as well.
Any problems that are showing up out there with these?
4. I'm thinking of switching software at the same time to Trimble business center,
and the TSC2 and TSC3 to Trimble ACCESS.
Any comments on the ease of use, software cost, or other problems with either
of these configurations?
I'm sure it's going to be a sizeable quote from our local dealer.
If there's problems with this approach or configuration, I wanted to know so I should start discussions on "re-aligning" our budget.
Thanks ahead of time for any and all answers.....
I apologize for my sparse and brief description, I'm due in a staff meeting soon....
