Why? What’s the story here? Trying to get someone to do your homework for you?

Funny, I got downvoted for saying the same thing, when OP posted the same thing in another thread, and then everyone else tripped all over themselves to give out answers.

My suggestion to @dankman420:

1. Go read some basic surveying textbooks like these:

https://a.co/d/4iBUnFM

https://a.co/d/7yL82xY

https://a.co/d/d8SiktR

https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/textbooks/1124

2. Attempt the problems again. These are basic questions covered in all of the above books.

3. Come back here if you cannot solve them, with an explanation of what you tried, why it didn't work, and what concept(s) you are having trouble with. We'll be happy to help you even IF you got the right answer but are still not understanding why.

That's how learning works.

In the previous thread one could imagine someone studying and needing a little help. People were mostly trying to be tutorial, and not just giving answers.

This second thread comes across more strongly as "do the work for me" and we're tired of it.

If there are thoughtful questions about concepts, more tutoring may be available, but not raw answers.

I interpret your posts as you wanting a promotion to Party Chief, and are realizing that you are not qualified for the position according to your company's standards.  The company has their reasons for a test to determine your qualifications for the position, primarily to ensure that you have the knowledge to handle situations in the field and make decisions that won't be detrimental to the quality of product the company produces or shines a bad light on the company's reputation.  This mentality is a win-win for the surveying community, the general public, and the up & coming surveyors the company is trying to produce from their ranks.

Earn the promotion by learning the information the surveyor(s) at your company requires. Take the initiative to go beyond the minimums being asked, and become the most knowledgeable and hardest working instrument man/ crewman on staff.

A crewman that is just going through the motions for advancement isn't an asset to the company. A crewman that is very knowledgeable and a hard working individual is one of the most valuable assets a company can have! In most cases, they are paid better and receive bigger bonuses as well.

This reminds of a time many, many years ago. The company I worked for was buried in work and couldn't find any party chiefs. They got desperate and hired a PC over the phone. The guy started the following Monday. When the crews got in on his first day, we had sort of a meet and greet over a beer.

The topic of golf came up as many of us played and often went out together. We knew we were in trouble when the new PC chimed in that he had tried golf, but the first time he ever played he was several stokes under par and he decided the game was just too easy for his liking.

He didn't last the full first week.

Based on the picture my first bit of advice would be not to put your thumb on top of the stake when pounding it into the ground.

I can tell you this as a HS dropout who never bothered to take advanced math courses, you won't find SOS answers to study or exam questions.  As one who got a job as a rod man and loved it, I woke up at 4 AM every morning to self educate myself, then went to work, then came home and poured over the books for nine years straight.

I was licensed at the minimum 10 year threshold and was the youngest LS in the State at that time, 30 years ago.  I'm not patting myself on the back, the moral to the story is that you have to put in the hard work to get to where you want to be.

@chris-bouffard Similar story. Didn't finish HS. Parents divorced and got kicked to the curb. After getting beat up by construction and commercial fishing, discovered the value of an education and enrolled in community college, which led to a geomatics program degree. Stayed up late into the night learning to compute spirals for a homework assignment and a fellow student who didn't want to put in the effort borrowed my work and copied them. I thought I was helping him at the time and when I asked for them back he said he lost them. Funny how little things like that still bug me years later. Only get out, what you put in.

With a username like Dankman420 it kind of shows a lack of respect or lack of him taking this forum seriously.

@tim-libs

How is that? It could be an actual surname.

@bill93  No offense, but I can’t tell if you’re making a joke or just too old to know the meaning behind the username.

If it's a popular culture reference, then I'm too old. Google seems to indicate that, but didn't quickly make it clear. But it finds actual people with the name also.
