Anyone tried to rent a car recently? A lot of my work is far away from home, I typically fly and rent a car. I just rented one for four days, it was $900. Some of the vehicles were $400/day. I rented one last week in the midwest, the guy told me I was lucky I reserved ahead of time because the price I got had quadrupled.
Apparently they sold a lot of their cars last year due to lack of demand, now they are having trouble getting new ones due to the microprocessor shortage.
I have a job coming up in Guyana, they told me I have to quarantine for 7 days upon arrival. Not a Guyana government requirement, but an Exxon Mobil requirement. But there I will hire a car and driver, too difficult to get around and they drive on the left. I have driven on the left before but it is difficult to get used to. There the problem is going to be hotel, the nice hotels are in short supply because of an oil boom. Similar to when I flew my plane to Williston, ND a few years ago and had to sleep in a rental car at the airport.
Rent a U-Haul?

You are a true modern cowboy. Giddy-up!
I admire and wistfully enjoy your tales of exploration work. I put it down to get married( huge mistake) and occasionally get the bug to go to the ends of the earth again, and just travel for fun. Pretty cool youre getting paid to be out in it still John.
