Posted by holy-cow on May 27, 2021 at 1:06 pmTuesday we were about 45 miles from the office all day. On the return trip, taking the normal route, we passed within one-half mile of five jobs and directly next to two other jobs that are on the current to-do list. No connection between any of the jobs. Seven times I had to hope the client didn’t see us.
There are 23 on the to-do list and 10 on the fieldwork-done-but-not-completed list. Have I ever told you I hate drafting? Must beat myself to get that done in order to see the money.

@jim-frame
Ha! That’s nothing! I have 7!
I hope everyone has a great day; I know I will!I only have 3 in cue. They should be finished today.
Am I the only one that works about thirty minutes on a drawing and then swaps over to this board for a few minutes? My attention span on CAD work wanes after about a half hour. After a few minutes of checking on all my buddies here I’ll jump back and grind away on the drawing.
Seems to work for me.
Who needs a hired gun to draft a bit for you???
??? ????
@jitterboogie I can draft up some stuff pretty darn quick….
I actually like drafting. ???ú???? It’s nice to see the fieldwork turn into something someone can use.
@stlsurveyor sounds to me like some hired guns need to reach out and direct message some others to offer help and see what shakes out. Remember to thank Wendell and Angel if things work out well for everyone $.
Its been growing on me, for that very reason. My collection has been instilled with the idea of how to save more time on the computer coding and collecting in ways that keep it effective efficient and evolving as the project needs require.
Just upload the raw data to this thread and ask the question: how would you draft this? Pick, print, sign and lodge the best answer, bill client.
- No. Without their point label styles and figure prefix data, why bother?
- See number one.
3. All surveyors’ drawings use the same styles, so there’s not an issue.
@jitterboogie you too, bruh.
Why is it that so many of us hate the drafting?
Maybe where I work has skewed my perspective
No way.
- I’m just a newbie. Trying to figure out how to succeed in my second life career choice.
@mike-shepp
I find it painstakingly tedious. But I hate drafters more than I hate drafting (hate is probably too strong, so dislike is probably more accurate)
Raw drafting where I’m solving the puzzle is fine. Creating the final drawing is when my perfectionistic tendencies require too much attention to detail, thus requiring far too much time. I get stressed because of my internal issues. Running off for a few minutes, much like Paden, helps drop the stress level.
Roger that.
I’m subjected to personal ideology from everyone that’s been here longer than me( everyone)
So I’m constantly ping-ponged about by the sorta way we do things….
Its maddening.
