Remember the upcoming (10 Nov) webinar. Some details on the SPCS 2022 are included in the latest NSRS Modernization Newsletter with highlighting showing the section on the SPCS 2022 (160 zones?! OMG):

Will there be a recording or second showing of this?

@gmpls

Webinars are all recorded and posted to the NGS site in about a week.Q&A and a certificate of attendance are subsequently sent to registered attendees.

NGS page for webinars is:

https://geodesy.noaa.gov/web/science_edu/webinar_series/

An advantage to attendance is the ability to post questions. Many questions are answered during the event; those not answered live are answered in a post-event Q&A email.

They have a 1.5h slot for the event. Hopefully the presentation will not take up all the time.

This was a good one. And I was only able to focus on about half. As I was comping points for a job and since I have not become an expert with civil3d yet it was me and my hp35s. But I will be watching it again when they or she post it soon I hope. I think they said over 1000 plus maybe more attended. Good to see people actually getting prepared. I am going to go back and watch His other videos again as well. Keep my old brain working.

The SPCS presentation has been posted to the the NGS site here: https://geodesy.noaa.gov/web/science_edu/webinar_series/2022-webinars.shtml

The Q&A document created for the webinars has not been posted yet. It is usually included in the email containing the attendance document; not today.

hey so I saw the mention of a certificate of attendance being sent but do they provide actual PDH hours that are usually board approved? this may be a rookie question but before I spend a few hours in webinars I would rather know that they'll count towards my required professional development.

@ncsudirtman

I am surprised this issue is not addressed in the FAQ (located here: https://geodesy.noaa.gov/web/science_edu/webinar_series/FAQWebinars.shtml  )

I will speculate that the NGS considers the webinars to be a service to surveyors and others and not merely a means to serve those looking for easy PDHs.

You can always contact the staff involved in providing these events using the link on the webinar page. You might also consider contacting your state society about their view of these webinars.

Programs are rarely, if ever, pre-approved by boards as satisfying PDH requirements.  There are things that are universally recognized as appropriate, such as your state society's annual conference. And there is stuff that is not - such as a saleman's marketing pitch and demonstration.

Personally, I wouldn't want to rely on 15 hours per year of webinars to satisfy my needs, but I'd be comfortable throwing in an hour or two to round out the 15.  None of the state boards I deal with ask to see certificates anyway. Having them is more of a way for me to keep records.
