Statistics on professional licensure in Kansas in recent times
See if you can find comparable data for the State, or States, where you are working.
Since January 2020 there have been 270 Engineers receive licensure by passing the examination. In the same period of time, seven Land Surveyors received licensure by passing the examination.
The Kansas State Board of Technical Professions covers Architects, Engineers, Geologists, Landscape Architects and Land Surveyors. The current totals for individuals in each category are: Architects–1823; Engineers–11989; Geologists–340; Landscape Architects–330 and Land Surveyors–540. The current totals for Business Entities licensed in the same order are: 654; 1870; 78; 70; 540. In the past year the total number of licensed individuals in all categories has dropped by 403 while the net increase in Business Entities is only 33.
The percentage of all license holders who reside in Kansas is as follows: Architects–29; Engineers–31; Geologists–55; Landscape Architects–38 and Land Surveyors 47.
Such statistics are a reflection of much of the commentary here on SurveyorConnect about the current status and future status of the profession of Land Surveying.
