That is awesome. I have seen different ideas engaging the younger generations. FFA in one state did some hosting of middle school and high school students for few days. Things like this makes me see how those getting involved will grow one of greatest generations of Surveyors geodesist cartographers and others in mapping disciplines for sure. I hope they get some of these things going in my state here. Once i get licensed i will be pushing some of these ideas. Thanks for posting.
That is awesome.
A KAPS past president was a Vincennes alumni. If he was any indication of the program, it must be a good one.

They definitely set us up for success upon graduation. You'll get weeded out if you can't hang. I forgot what our graduation rate was but I'll never forget when Art Haase told us to look around the room on the first day. He said about half of us won't be there on the last day. He was pretty close.
The survey program is definitely more relaxed than that.

Not a new concept.
Lubsen joined the staff at Iowa State College (University) as Instructor (1941-1943) and then Assistant Professor (1943-1948) of theoretical and applied mechanics. He became Assistant Professor (1948-1951) in the department of civil engineering. He was promoted in that department to Associate Professor (1951-1973) and Professor (1973-1975). Lubsen was director of the Iowa State Surveying Summer Camp ("Camp Marston") for a number of years until it closed in the 1960s.
BTW I was fortunate enough to inherit two boxes of Lubsen's papers from his widow and have posted excerpts on this site occasionally. I witnessed him stand up and explain to Walter R where he was mistaken a couple times.

It's run by alumnus now. I had the OG's. Swingley was a classmate of mine. I've been wanting to get over there for the Alumni golf tournament.
