I am looking to hire 10-15 experienced Survey Civil 3d Technicians to work remotely. The hours are flexible, and the pay is competitive.
Edit* I can understand the skeptics' points of view, we are a new company trying to establish ourselves so there isn't a lot of searchable material about us on the www yet. However, before prejudging me and my company how about we have a conversation first?
I will give you a little background about myself with the hope that you can understand where I am coming from and help me instead of criticizing me without knowing my story and what I am trying to create.
I have been working in the land surveying industry for many years and started my career in 1988 as a Rodman in Georgia. I have since worked my way through instrument man, Party-Chief and Survey CAD Technician in Texas and Colorado.
Recently my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's so I left my job in Colorado and moved back to Texas to care for him. I don't want to put him into a nursing home because he wouldn't understand and would feel betrayed. Yet I cannot take on an office job and leave him unattended to wander off. I needed to think outside of the box and try something new so I formed Remote CAD Services Ltd.
Remote Cad Services provides drafting services and AutoCAD Civil 3d setup and consultation services to Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers. I did not expect the demand to be so high and the workload has taken me off guard. We are starting with one client (Interland Surveying and Mapping in Houston, Texas) who has requested so much that we are overwhelmed. We have enough work to keep 10-15 Survey Technicians busy for an indefinite period of time. I need help.
I understand that this may seem a bit sketchy, but I am an open and honest person. I welcome any questions or concerns that you may have.
Hi Mathew,
I’m currently employed full-time and don’t have any intention of leaving my job, but I’m always interested in ways of bringing in additional income to support my family. That being said, I do have a few questions.
- Is this a W-2 position or a 1099 position?
- Is the software/subscription provided, or would it be at my own cost?
- What software would be used? I use Autodesk Civil 3D daily at my job, have for 10 years. So I’m very familiar with it.
- Are there a specific number of hours expected per day/week? Or is that unimportant to you as long as assigned work is completed timely?
- Finally, the last question I can think of, would templates/drafting standards be provided and easy to follow/understand to allow a relatively seamless remote drafting experience?
Those are the only questions that come to mind right now. Thanks in advance for your time. I’m eager for your response.
All the best,
Joshua Huff
Not a lot of information either here or in the link provided. No physical address. No point of contact. Drafting is a skill that typically does not need to operate in anonymity. Appears too shady for someone to be interested.
Just my 0.02.

1. it is a 1099 contract position.
2. You would need to have a Civil 3d subscription.
3. Civil 3d
4. Hours are flexible as long as deadlines are met.
5. Templets and drafting standards are provided.
Any interest in subcontracting? I’d be more per hour but have multiple staff members that’s could ensure time could get dedicated when need be.

Off topic, but being from Houston originally, I thought I'd look this company up to look for familiar names. Turns out I think I worked for Ms. Qaddumi's father in the mid 1990s. It was very short lived. One of those places you just get a bad feeling about soon after starting. I don't remember her, but her brother worked there (Interfield Engineering) part time.
