Accuracy specs 3” 5” etc. also is it active target enabled by chance. I remember the first ones may or may not have been able to use a multi trac target. How many hours are on it by chance.

@ncsudirtman No current certificate. I haven't sent it in since 2019. I have a receipt for that calibration from Seiler Instruments in July 2019 if you want to see it. I only use it once a year so I didn't want to pay for a cleaning and calibration until I had a large project. That doesn't happen anymore so I want to sell.

@jimcox No video that I am aware of. I believe there is a tracking light but I have never used it. I purchased this used in 2017 and might have used it 10 times. I just no longer need it.

@olemanriver This is 3" total station. The 360° prism has an adapter for target id.

@bigd1320

Just FYI: as it is without video, the current equivalent Trimble instrument would be an S5

They are good instruments for sure.  If you out them in a soft case for long wooded and hills and swamp traverse’s they are not heavy. But that yellow case is lol.  I am sending this up the chain of command to see.  I am putting another crew on now so depending on how the company wants to spend money. If i were solo this would be very appealing to me.

I want this.

If I want it hard enough will the money show up somewhere to acquire it?

If you USE it enough, it will more than pay for its self.

@jimcox My John Deere dealer told me the same thing about my tractor. But the money has not come yet. Lol. Yes it would not take to many jobs to recoup that money. I started putting together a little cost analysis and I think i could purchase a new tsc5 or tsc7 and be ready for anything. I hope someone gets it that could truly benefit from it. I will know tomorrow afternoon if the boss man is interested or not. But I think they will just purchase new as they did last crew we added. I would have been driving that away already if i were solo. Just for the scenic drive and make a few stops and look at some cattle as well.

I know.  I would.  I'm currently borrowing the exact setup from a contractor to do intermittent side work and work for the organization where I spend most of my days, but they're (the contractor) 10 miles away so every project is set up without a DC and includes driving at least 10 miles, but up to 20 miles, out of the way to get it and then the same to return it.

I'm a full time volunteer, supporting the 'no salary' status with fun side stuff like construction, construction staking, site and grading plans for permit, CAD, some coding, etc.  I know it'd be worth it for me, but I don't know that I do enough support generation work to manage a typical payoff structure of that amount.  I'll think about that (and take suggestions) but am guessing I better not think too long.  Unfortunately, if I had the resources, this is exactly what I'd start with, maybe with a goal of upgrading the DC down the road.

I am associated with a large non-profit, for which I also occasionally use this same setup (borrowed) in development of their properties and, hopefully soon, beginning to record boundary monumentation, reconfiguration and easement management (vacating 1 and creating 1 at least).  It's also included occasionally travelling to strange lands to help others in these areas - yes, packing equipment with me.

Two weeks ago I got authorization to rent a nice Trimble GNSS setup for topo on about a half acre of tricky sloped ground we want to use as a landscaped gathering area for students.  $300/day (!) but it was an R12 base/R10 setup w/ TSC3 and access 17.  So nice to have something that just 'worked'.  My now dead GPS setup is/was, believe it or not, Zephyr Geodetic w/ 5700 receiver and a 5800 rover.  I still use it to collect static but that's it.  My TSC2 died about a year ago.

I wonder (out loud) if bigd'd be interested in getting a tax write off for all or part of this...... 🙂

(I'm pretty sure I wouldn't if I were in his position tho)

Being honest here (sorry Mr 1320)

While it is tempting at first glance, for me the lack of video would be a deal-killer. Tracklight just does not do it for me.

The controller and software are so far out of date as to have zero value.

And I would need a fresh calibration certificate

But it is still a very nice instrument

Thanks for the review.  idk, I've gotten pretty used to turning on the tracklight when needed and fidgeting with it long enough to find myself.  It is a time eater though, but as you can tell, I'm still in that place of making due with what I've got rather than making hay.  And if I were doing more topo, which is very likely, I'd probably invest in an MT1000 and not worry about the slight loss of tolerance.  To actually get traction I'm probably also going to have to get TBC and spend some time really boning up on it.  Civil 3D's not going to cut it.  Ah, the joys of finally trying to get serious about something you've enjoyed for a long time.
