Spectra SP80 Bluetooth Pin Code
Posted by gmpls on November 16, 2019 at 8:43 pmHello everyone. I just got a Trimble S5/TSC7 combo and am in the process of switching over from Survey Pro to Access. I have one of my SP80 receivers set up in Access but the other is asking for the Bluetooth pin (which I don’t know). Is there a way to reset the pin? Has anyone else had this issue? That unit works fine with Survey Pro because all connections are made through Survey Pro and not Windows but Access requires the connection to be made through the bluetooth manager.

Have you tried the “normal default” ones like: 0000, 1111, 1234?
(Recently I got a gizmo from China, and it was 8888, lucky me).
Yup but not 8888. Based on my other receiver it may be 6 digits too.
It’s odd because I had the same pin code issue when I tried to connect the sp80 to my Ranger 3 via the windows bluetooth manager but when I set up the reciever in Survey Pro it connected perfectly.
Is there a way to “cancel” the request for a code, i.e. no code – over the years I’ve had this issue many times with BT connections.
Maybe there’s something in here:

Hmm. Ill have to look into this later. I do get “Try connecting your device again” when trying to connect. It is odd that one of my units connects fine though.
I have done a lot of searching in Trimble help but didn’t find that. Thanks alot. I think my search has been more focused on the SP80 pin code as being the issue.
I have also emailed my dealer too. Hopefully I can figure this out so I can run everything on the TSC7 with Access rather than using the Ranger 3 for gnss.

The default is ‘1234’. A 3-fingered reset should reset it to default. If you have a serial cable, or USB with correct drivers) you can issue this command:
$PASHQ,BTH
which will return the Bluetooth name and current password.
You can make it what ever you want (at least up to 16 digits) with:
$PASHS,BTH,PIN
I will PM you with additional information.

Thanks Mark. The 3 fingered reset does not reset the bluetooth pin according to the manual and my trial/error. I do have more questions and have sent you another PM. Thanks again.

Hello Mark,
I need your help, How to connect a pm800 with USBconnect to PC and send command?
tanks your come back LUIS
I think that there is a serial driver for the USB to serial convertor that is built into the head.
Look in: https://ashgps.com/2021/ProMark%20500/Software/USB%20Drivers/index.htm
When you plug in the cable, a new COM port will be listed in the device manager. Then you can use a program like putty or Evaluate to connect to the head on that COM port.
I personally use Evaluate version 7.01: https://ashgps.com/2021/Utility%20Software/Evaluate/Software/index.htm
Good luck!
I have a similar problem with an old Spectra Epoch 35. It doesn’t have bluetooth pin code and therefore it cannot pair with an android phone. It pairs fine with my Windows mobile Getac.
@mark-silver
What are these commands? The Epoch 35 can communicate with pc via hyperterminal.
