Hello - I wanted to join to stay connected with the community and see what others are talking about. Not being present on other social media except pics on Instagram, I thought this would be a great way to see what others are doing and give insights where applicable.
cheers

I have a question about the early development of Minnesota. You may or may not have any knowledge on this. My question is based on my knowledge of the early development in Kansas. Minnesota became a State in 1858 which is only three years ahead of Kansas in 1861. Thus there may be similarities. There was a major push in Congress at the time to get railroads to extend their lines. Many sections of land were assigned to certain railroad companies to compensate them for their expenses to do this construction. Naturally, land development followed closely along those new railroads. The problem was that the Government gave away land in some cases that had already been claimed by the early settlers. In this area a battle lasted for years in court between the Settlers League and the railroads. Did anything similar to that also occur in Minnesota?
