Young Surveyor
Posted by dleidigh on May 26, 2021 at 3:26 pmHey there, I’m a newly minted degree-holder in land surveying and geomatics. I’ll be poking my head in on the boards now and again to gain insight into some of the unique situations we get to run into as surveyors. Currently a survey tech (field and office) and I’ll be taking my FS exam in Spring of 2022. Glad to be here!

Welcome!
Welcome from NC, I was in your shoes a little over 50 years ago.
Good luck,
Ed
As a degree holder you should already have taken the FS. I believe an AS or junior standing in a 4 year program is all that is necessary.
Welcome. What state are you currently in?
Paul in PA
I encourage you to get in contact with Gene Kooper @gene-kooper as he is in your area. He could tell you more in five minutes about mineral surveys than most anyone else on here, except a rare few. Get him to take you up with him sometime to the loftier heights in the Front Range.
Welcome, friend!
Welcome! ????
Welcome! I would be interested in reading about anything you recently learned in college regarding abandoning old surveying methods for new ones.
MHI’m in Colorado and the only program offered in the state is a 2-year associates. According to Board rules here, I need an additional 2 years of survey experience to take the FS exam. But rest assured, I’ll be sitting as soon as I’m prepared. I had considered the 4 year degree from New Mexico State U, but decided on starting with the associates here. Hoping we get a 4 year program going soon!
