Richard Abbott aka RADU
We've just learned this morning that our dear RADU, Richard Abbott, has passed. He was a great gift to the surveying community, and we will miss him. But even more than that, he was a brilliant man that brought smiles everywhere he went.
May he rest in peace.
From a post this morning by Leighton Rutt in the Baby Boomers 4 Our Australia group on Facebook:
Good evening friends.I have some very sad news, that was just given to me via a phone call from Adelaide. Our dear friend, Richard Abbott, the founder of the group, Baby Boomers for our Australia, passed away peacefully last night. His battle lasted long and hard, however it finally caught up with him.My thoughts and I know your sentiments will be with his wife Yolanta, and family. As soon as funeral arrangements are known, I shall pass the information to you all.Vale Richard Abbott.
His battle lasted long and hard
And that is a damn shame for such a wonderful person.
Heaven has gained another great soul...
Deepest condolences to you all and his family and friends.
you can always tell how special someone was in the ways that they talk about you after you're gone.
Hope they beat Parkinson's one day. God took another good one.
He will be missed. So glad I got to meet him and have a lunch. I often use his "bleeding edge of technology" phrase.
What Andy said. I so enjoyed taking RADU on a tour of Tucson and showing him the cactus.
RADU is an inspiration.
Peace to all he left behind...
This breaks my heart. He was 100% graded A surveyor and a true gentleman. Rest in peace Richard Abbot from Down Under
That's sad sad news. I always felt smarter after reading his posts.
I always enjoyed RADU's posts about surveying down under. I particularly learned from his posts on the process and requirements for licensure in Australia. Saddened to hear of his passing.
May he rest in peace. Always loved his posts and stories. For sure he will be missed.
Rest well, dear friend..
