Bearing and distance labels

Perhaps Annotate-annotate w/ leader. I tried using Ortho to make sure the line stayed straight, but didn’t seem to be able to do it. So you may have to eyeball a nice straight line. Then maybe someone edited the arrow length. If it is simpler, hopefully someone in the know will tell. Looking closer at your post, notice that the 180.50 lines up under the leading degree zero and the other distances are under the second place of the degrees. That makes me think it is someone doing some extra work to get the look they wanted.

I took a look (I have Carlson with Auto CAD though) I didn’t see how to do it, and after Jon’s post I tend to agree with him.
Try grabbing the label grip and pulling the label to the side.
I know that works in C3D, but I haven’t seen it work in Carlson
I’ve never used Carlson, but knew it worked in C3D. It was worth a try since there are some similarities between the 2 programs. Another case of brainstorming fails, I guess.
Thanks, all of you, for the quick responses. These were made by a lady that used to do some drafting for me years ago. I think she was using Carlson Survey, but I’m not sure which cad engine. Sometimes they fit the space available better than anything else, and I’d like to figure out how to make them.
@jon-payne, You’re right, I modified them slightly. They were normally made like the bottom one with the bearing centered over the distance. I scooted the other two over manually because of the fence.@kevin-hines They are made of two text entities and a leader. Grabbing the grips just moves the pieces individually.

Ortho on, draw leader from midpoint, BDLEAD, pick line, snap to end of leader, Justify text as needed, erase leader created in BDLEAD.
Takes a few steps but it can be done.
@sergeant-schultz That’s how I ended up making them. I’m pretty sure there was a single command to make them, but maybe not. I did find out that both the bdlead and annlead commands have options that I didn’t know about. Thanks.
A slight tweak might be to specify separate layer for the leader from BDLEAD then erase all the BDLEAD leaders as once with LDEL (Erase by Layer)
Could also try a tool on a ToolPalette with the command set to something like:
^C^C_leader;\;;n;bdlead;

Help me out with the syntax of all those semicolons and slashes. I might find a use for combining some other commands.
@john-thompson Sure thing… Put a ; where you would hit the Enter key and a where you want to be prompted to pick a point. In the above sample the \ allows you to pick two points for the leader.
Good to learn a new trick. I don’t use this type of labeling often, and in the case above, it looks like you could put the labels along the lines, on one side or the other.
That said, I applaud your use of them vs the dreaded line table
I didn’t get much experience with carlson labels but I remember they annoyed me because they (apparently) didn’t come in as a block. I’d annotate a line and then go to drag the label and just the bearing would move, or just the distance. It seemed so dumb. ??? Again, I didn’t get a lot of experience with the program but this seemed to be the default setting and it drove me nuts.
Anyway, hopefully you found a solution.
I never got used to fancy routines, so moving a bearing and then a distance never seemed like much of a hassle.
I got more crazed when someone else would draft using C3D, and I’d see the distances change when a line changed, when I didn’t want it to. I really hate things that are too smart for their own good
