BLM Records issue
Posted by thebionicman on February 21, 2020 at 6:12 pmI have been trying to create and download PDF files for several GLO/BLM surveys in Idaho. None of the buttons (pdf, multi-page pdf, jp2 or SID) will work. I have tried 4 different browsers on 2 networks. Anyone else having issues?

Just went
to the GLO records site and they have an alert posted that they are having issues with pdf conversions.
Yes tried to get a Patent yesterday, no bueno.
Well, there is a “backdoor” to the GLO Records patent and CDI documents. I just tested both and if you are looking for a patent after July 1, 1909, you can download the individual pages of the patent as TIFF files. If the patent is before that, the Control Document Index document sheets can be downloaded as individual .jp2 files.
PM me with you phone number and I’ll help you through the process thebionicman. It is definitely slower than clicking the multi-page PDF button and then the download button, but if you need the files today there is a way to get them directly.
As an aside, the GLO Records web site has under the “Reference Center” tab access to bulk data and web services. To cure a bad bout of insomnia last December, I downloaded the bulk data for patents and CDI documents, created flat files from the relational databases and merged the patent data with the CDI data for all the mineral surveys in Colorado. The Web Services section allows access to all the meta data for each patent and CDI record, which includes hot links to the “raw” image files for patents (as TIFF and JP2 files).
BTW….I’ve been sleeping much better the last two months. ????
Glad you are well Gene. My urgent need is plats and notes for about a half-dozen surveys. I started dowloading them one page at a time, but the jp2 and sid files print like crap. Then they quit working completely.
If you have access to plats and notes let me know. Thanks, Tom
Tom,
Survey plats and survey field notes are also part of the Web Services, so they should work too. Each plat and field notes has a 6 digit number assigned to it (called a DM ID #). The Web Services used that number to access the meta data. I sent you a PM with my phone #.
BTW….I don’t know why you are getting poor images from Mr. SID files. For Colorado the original scans were 300 and 400 dpi. I use Global Mapper to convert the Mr. SID to TIFF files and get the same resolution as the original scans.
What T/R are you looking for, I have several of them downloaded
Thanks for the note. I saw your message yesterday but was slammed until about 7 PM. It’s decompress time right now and I will reach out if it isn’t resolved Monday.
Please e-mail me at the address in my profile. I appreciate the potential help and will check in Monday. Taking a few days away right now.
Thanks again, Tom
