Drawing Legend Question
I’m finally getting around to addressing a review on rather large and extensive ROS I drafted last winter. Eight sheets in total including the first two which are Index sheets, the second sheet containing all the details on recovered monuments, line tables, areas, notes and Legend. Mind you this survey covers pole lines in about four plus sections. The scale on the index sheet is 1:500 to get everything to fit and it’s tight. All subsequent sheets are at 1:100. Here is the problem. The reviewer wants the legend on each and every sheet. The legend is huge, six different symbols, six different referenced records and ten line types. There simply isn’t room on any of the other sheets to fit this legend. I’m setting up a meeting to talk about this and a couple of other requests from them that I just don’t feel are necessary nor like. In a perfect world, sure, the legend repeated on every sheet would be nice, but it’s not always practical. I always strive for simplicity and clarity and it feels like the reviewers have the opposite mission.
