A helpful aid for utilizing point clouds to extract data
Hello,
I just want to share something I’ve been working on that may be new to some of you, it may not be for others. Any criticisms, advice, tips, or tool requests is always appreciated.
This is a point cloud viewer based off Potree that I’ve been adding a few personal touches, debugging and adding some new tools that I think will be really helpful (coming soon).
For those that aren’t familiar, Potree is an open source web based point cloud viewer. Or so its described, but I feel that description is selling it short.
The only thing I’ve really done that I haven’t seen others do yet, (Im sure people have, I just haven’t see it so I thought maybe this community would find value in it) is compile a few step by step videos on how to get the utmost out of this truly amazing piece of software (big thanks to the original creator) and bring that data into CAD.
I have no idea why I haven’t came across it yet, and I don’t quite understand why it isn’t more main stream. I’ve started implementing it with my clients and coworkers and they all really love it. I feel like Im just starting to crack the surface on the possible uses of it.
If anyone has any data they’d like uploaded, just reach out and I’d be more then happy to do so for you and send you a link to your data.
Here is a short intro video of some of what it’s capable of…
