What could go wrong with an isolated cross-disciplinary scientific savant, who's an obsessive Pollyanna, being placed in control of the AI ultra-connectivity on-off switch?
Hah! Yeah, that's even more ridiculous than what I thought the potential turning point would be which is...
My coworker was messing with that ChatGPT back in December and that's when he showed it to me also. He asked it to write a lisp routine for something in CAD and it mostly pulled it off.
What I wonder is how long before, if they haven't done it already, the people running these systems tell the AI to start writing its own programming. If there was a beginning of the end that seems like when it would happen, to me.
Hm... What would Jeffery Lucas do?
What would Kent McMillan do?
We could possibly just get the AI to spit out a number of solutions, based on the name of a surveyor....
If I had a Javad, how would I set this corner? (Just go set it, be a little patient, if satellite configuration is poor).
If I had a T-rimble, how would I set this corner? (Go set ctrl nails in field, then get robot, and set it)
Etc...
Let's see....
What would Jeffery Lucas do?.... Hmmmm.

Found bent 5/8" rebar. Pulled out straightened, and reset in original location. Rebar is the corner. Prev plats show that they apparently shot the top of this bent rebar, in several different rotations, however, if they paid attention, they could have used the vertical part of this rebar, and been right. It was a pinwheel virtual pincushion. Depending on the spin of the rebar. I fixed it. The rebar is the corner....

Jeff Lucas would welcome AI replacements for surveyors. We would finally be rid of those "math slappers" who are basically all surveyors except him.
When I asked Google what the GPT means in Chat GPT I found GUID Partition Table. Further GUID is an initialism for Globally Unique Identifier. So there is an initialism that is defined as another initialism.
I do not find this as an indicator of intelligence, artificial or otherwise.

Well, I recognize Shtick, when I see it. I am sure that J L is not all the way attached to what he says... the agent provocateur in him is all he shares, because that gets more blood flowing.

@gary_g Having attended a few of his sessions, I think it's more likely speed than cocaine.
I've never seen one of his presentations, but apparently he's from right here in Idaho? I'll have to keep an eye out. 😏

No, he's from Florida, but he's lived in Alabama for a few decades.
@james-fleming He certainly makes you think!
