I saw some discussion about the RS2 a couple months back.  We are solely running the units and have used them for a variety of things.  Mainly data collection both network and base/rover.  Networked we have used both the provided software and SurvCE.  Both softwares work well.  SurvCE is preferable right now while on network just because of the ease of use for point coding and COGO functions.

Emlid has done a great job of incorporating changes into their software and came a very long way with there latest update (reach view 3).  On the next one im hoping they will incorporate the COGO functions, and point coding/ linework capablility.

As of now the only way I know of to use the base/rover function is with their app.  Has anyone else found a way to use their system base rover with SurvCE?

Also in field testing we were marking LOD with the stakeout function and testing against control we set conventionally in fairly heavely wooded site.  We came in 0.12' or less on all the nails we checked into along the way.  Its worth mentioning these were hardwoods and not Pine trees.  Also we had 0 luck with running the NTRIP in the same area.  Only Base/Rover worked, which made since based on the situation.

Not saying I would make that standard practice by any means, but we already knew where the lines were based on conventional methods, so it was a great opportunity to test the unit.  Needless to say I was impressed.

I was also looking at the Reach, but I had a couple of concerns.  I deal with a lot of oak and pines and cell reception can be iffy.  I would like to discuss your setup to see if it would work for me.  I've been thinking about renting to try different equipment, but I don't know of any place that will rent the Reach.  My email is lioneasy at yahoo.com or my cell is two 0 0 two eight three four 6 6 five.
