calc'ed it all up, ran back out there to make sure.  old wambly neighborhood that's shot up in value about 8000% in the past decade, so seems like as good time as any to make sure lines are where as expected (or not).  crew couldn't find anything first go round, which made sense once all the improvements were put in and some nearby work was ref'd in.  walk to the first calc- bam.  iron rod about a foot down.  made me feel good.  hop the fence, crawl through the tall stuff along the back fence, inadvertently ruin a spider's day, have "half a foot of the rear, foot and a half in from the side fence" in my head.  start scraping in the area and find this:

IMG 9502

never put "beer bottle in concrete" on a survey before.  btw, it came within well inside a tenth of my calc...

Somewhere there is a surveyor grinning from ear to ear to learn his "special corner" has finally been found by another surveyor.

I'd be okay leaving behind a monument like that as long as I stuck some iron in it.  And my tag (required in CA).

I've heard of them being set, never seen one myself. Good find. Point description: BBF? Maybe if it was a Heineken it could be GBF...

Could have been any of ‘your’ crews in the ‘80s.  Breakfast left over from the ‘Outhouse’.  The good ole days in Austin

Hopefully it was an IPA, nitro stout, or some other beer not fit for human consumption.

To bring it up to California standards, add sand till 1/2 full. Then add a bonding agent, such as silicone in a tube. The, poke a capped short rebar into the top.

What a monument!
