Schonstedt vs Magna trac
Posted by dl7895 on February 17, 2021 at 4:48 pmMy old schonstedt GA52cx has seen better days and am looking at getting a new one. Anyone use the Schonstedt Spot locator? Or CST Berger Magna trac? What??s everyone using? Seems like the GA52 is antiquated. Thanks for your thoughts

I bought a CST last year. Biggest piece of garbage I’ve ever wasted money on.

I think just the opposite. It has been the standard of the industry (at least in my neck of the woods) for 30?ñ years. That tells me its still the go to magic wand.
Have Atlas Electronics rebuild it for $175. Look for their ad in the survey magazines.
I love my Maggie.
The shonstedt 52 series were designed
strong Housing
non waterproof housing
waterproof components
if barely cared for, they last 30 to 40 years
its the ??standard?

Maggie’s were on sale a couple of years ago…I bought two of ’em.
I’ve literally tried them all, and always go back to the trusty Schonstedt 52Cx
Schonstedt will refurbish them. Just had the GA-72Cd I’ve had for 15 years (It was already used when I got it) done for $290 and it looks brand new.
@cyril-turner No kidding? Im going to have to look into that. I’m using my dad’s schoney from the 80’s. It’s all beat to hell.
