Software to subdivide
Posted by firestix on November 5, 2020 at 6:35 pmWhat software do you use to create equal sized lots from an irregular shaped parent tract?
Thanks in advance!

I think the parcel wizard in Civil 3D can do that.
Civil 3D, my brain, and trial and error…
I use Carlson, adjust line, by area.
Make a lot. Close to right shape. Adjust a line. Repeat.
Often, I design roads first. Then set up a few rough lot lines, to get things close to perpendicular, then design lots.
In the old days, after establishing the road corridor, I would draw circles representing lot width at the BSBL with a circle templet, and draw the side lot lines accordingly. Got pretty good at arriving at similar area. I imagine one could do this with CAD easier and use a compute area function to do an even better job. Not an answer to the OP but a long winded way of saying I agree with Jim.
More sense from me. Try for parallel lines, don’t leave short tangents everywhere, combine corners if you can and leave a little area in the pot for adjustments that will be driven by utility design.
