Posted by csk21 on December 14, 2021 at 5:06 pmJust got my state exam results back… Looks like I’m in the market for a stamp!
Any recommendations?

Just go digital, make your stamp in CAD. Smudge free every time.
People can sue you now!
I hope everyone has a great day; I know I will!I’ve had a stamp for 23 years. I bet I haven’t used it for its intended purpose 5 times. I don’t even keep it at the office any more.
Nevertheless, congratulations!
I use a local provider. The last one I ordered on-line the first two proofs were done wrong.
As for digital, I no longer allow it. My seal was stolen from a cadd drawing and used on a plat by an unlicensed dirt-bag. Everything is wet seal from here on out.
Look up your state specs, match that, draw in CAD, and use that to order a custom stamp
I liked this one:
Congratulations! When I got my license there was a business card from a company that makes stamps. I figured since that who the board recommended that’s who I would use. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing doesn’t come in your packet. I of course could be wrong.
@hollandbriscoe Congratulations. You will now be plagued with sleepless nights, wondering if your interpretation of the evidence on the survey you just signed & sealed, was the right one. Remember, it is never too late to correct a mistake, only cheaper if corrected before your mistake is relied upon by others.
Congrats. Although I rarely use it these days, I went to a self-inking stamp many years ago and like it.
Oh, when I got licensed 35 years ago I ambitiously purchased 500 shiny brass tags with my PLS number on them. Probably have less than 25 on monuments. The only thing I use them for now is marking my ball on the putting green.
Congratulations.
Get an embossed seal and please don’t call it a stamp.
Blessed and cursed on the same day.
I use mine to stamp all of my Survey Library books.
When I was first starting out a friend of mine died and left me his library. I thought it was cool to see that he stamped all of his books so I just continued with it.
Maybe I should go back through them and put a mark on the stamps so it cannot be scanned and used by someone else!

I used my physical stamp once or twice. As for electronic, stamps, I prefer to stamp and digitally sign a pdf.
But, anyone with a template can throw your name on there and fake your stamp. I strip my seal out of CAD drawings before transmittal to make it harder.

I never include the stamp block when I provide CAD files. I do apply my 3rd party verifiable digital signature so that everyone knows the file is legitimate. I use my digital stamp to create a PDF which I also certify with my digital signature. I just write block the stamp out before I send of the CAD files. Come to think about it I should just XREF the stamp in. I really wish AutoDesk would develop a block that was linked to the digital signature.
As for the dirt bag that stole your stamp. They can just create one with your info on it. Dirt bags are always going to dirt bag.
To the OP. Congrats

I don??t include my stamp in my CAD files either. I print to a PDF, sign it and seal it with DocuSign, third party verified.

I know an engineer, you may know him also, John. He refuses to allow a CAD version of his stamp to exist. He wet stamps everything. His thinking is that if some scumbag cobbles up a CAD version of his stamp he will be able to argue that it wasn’t him. Which, I suppose, is also the BionicMan’s thinking.
Was it Milton Berle or Groucho Marx that said he didn’t want to be a part of anything that would allow him to become a member, or something like that?
Congratulations on completing all the requirements to become licensed. Many have proven how difficult that can be. Some of us were simply luckier than others. I was first licensed to do land surveying over 41 years ago. Have worn out more than a couple stamps. Nothing is digital.
