Surveying Tattoos
Posted by squirl on November 11, 2021 at 1:04 pmI love tattoos and have my fair share. My right arm is basically “my story”. It shows my kids, my work, my hobbies and who I love. To me, my tattoos mean something. I know it’s not that way for everyone and that’s totally fine.
Anyway, I’m about to start filling my left arm and it got me thinking. Those of us that have tattoos, do you have any surveying related tattoos? Below is mine.
So I love skulls, and all of my skull tattoos have one eye and it’s green. My surveying related tattoo is a skeleton holding a compass and you can see his one green eye reflecting in the cover of the compass. If you’d like, share your stories/tattoos too.

I was recently in walmart. I made some kind of smart comment to a walmart employee. She responded “bite me”.
I responded, “you don’t look edible”.
I got my tats (scars) from motorcycle accidents, chainsaw accidents, and knife accidents.
I saw a girl recently who looked like she’d hit a barbed wire fence, in blue jeans. No blood. But big rips in the front of her pants. I wonder. Do Mennonite girls have ripped dresses? Now I remember what I said to that wal Martian. “Hit a barbed wire fence?”
Fashion is funny.

The compass in my avatar..
The last verse of this Australian song seems to fit in here.
@dougie
I’ve seen this but NO ????
T. Nelson – SAM, LLCI’m having a beer so I asked a couple of the young ladies behind the bar if they’d like to see me with a tattoo or naked. I’m getting a tattoo.
I’ve thought about it but decided it’s not for me.
I always tell people thinking about it, “if you’re not 1000% sure, don’t do it.”

Sounds like a bona fide fun night out!!! ???? ???? ????
My attempt to post my survey related tattoo: my two favorite tools, one to cleave and one to connect.
Must be an under 50 thing. I don’t have the time, interest, passion about something that I would want it permanently plastered on my body, and no desire to waste any money on something like that. Have at it, though

I would now regret anything I might have had tatooed on me when I was in my ’20s.

I’ve surveyed lots of things, but never a tatoo.
I’m with Larry. …… ??? ??? ???
I have stared at some tattoos for too long simply attempting to figure out what I am looking at. That wasn’t a problem in one case. The left arm of a fellow who was making my sandwich in a little diner had what I assumed was his name in block letters about two inches square with a great deal of solid sections running down towards his wrist.
That reminds me of a tale I made up one Summer when Calvin Klein products were selling like hotcakes. I claimed that company had entered the condom business and every condom was imprinted with Calvin Aloysius Klein the XVIIIth, Incorporated. I then asserted those were the only ones I would buy. An intelligent- behind at the table immediately started calling me Cal. Karma finally got him. He spent a couple years in jail for attempting to burn down his own house for the insurance money.
@norman-oklahoma guilty here. One is now covered by something representing my 3 kids
Band members (all over 50) were in a brewpub ordering lunch when I noticed our waitress had a tattoo on her forearm of one those things which were used in a 45rpm record to play it on a standard turntable. I asked her what it was and she said it is a Chinese symbol which meant something, but she couldn’t remember what. I guess I’m getting old, I remember when an asterisk was an asterisk, not a “star thingie”.
@howard-surveyor
That’s simply perfect. So desperate to get something meaningful that she actually got something meaningless. Ha

You describe nearly every moment of my ??thinking? life. I think I do more thinking about life than simply living life. This feels appropriate for this particular thread. We all have different perspectives, don??t we?
