Tell me about it, we practically drowned in rain last week and the entire Western portion of the US is burning to the ground. Compared to earth we are too new and really do not understand centuries of weather patterns so is this ??normal? or are we destroying the planet. Good hypothetically drawn conclusions or fact? ????
That is the only thing about ‘global warming’ I believe. Weather patterns are more erratic. longer periods of dry/cold followed by longer periods of wet/warm. That was stated by a real scientist 40 years ago, when scientist were not political scientist. EVERY year is not the hottest, coldest, wettest or driest ever. What I do not understand is while air quality is up and emissions are down, the water quality has gotten worse and no one cares.
It was 113?ø here in Oregon yesterday??æ
We had the typical PNW weather today. We, however, were a hard two day drive from there OR MORE
Give it back! I’m working from home since the only AC we have in our 110 year old house is a window unit in our bedroom and the portable job I took from the office. at 1831 it is 32C in the rooms we have shut off. It hit 45C this afternoon. It is supposed to hit 36C tomorrow which is still about 10 above normal.
Topped out at 115?ø in the Portland area today. I understand that is the highest temp ever recorded in this area. Commuter rail shut down, nobody on the street. I’m in air conditioned comfort but the word is about 30% of people around here still do not have it. Ugh.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a still hot but more bearable mid ’90s.
Boxed it today when the temp hit 101 at noon and the shade was gone. Client doesn’t have any afternoon shade.
and then suddenly, in about 1 1/2 hrs it was 84. I have never seen such a dramatic drop in temps!
Dang near froze to death at the Kansas State Fair one year in early September. It was at least 95 at 4:00, just two hours before the first show of the evening at the huge grandstand venue. By 4:30 a major cold front blew in from the northwest. Thankfully, the opening act band was selling sweat shirts promoting themselves. The feature attraction band was selling tee shirts. The sweat shirts were all purchased. Dang few tee shirts were sold that frigid night.
@mark-mayer
I would say 30% is a low number, it may be just the opposite. No real need for it until the last decade. I’m going to have to get serious about getting it for my place if this is any indication of things to come.
Mini split for just in case.
Where I lived in Michigan very few people had A/C in their homes. Our apartment had one small window unit.
@mark-mayer A few years ago Atlanta reported their all time high of 105 degrees. I was working in Des Moines at the time and we had three days in a row of 106. I told those fellows I was going back south to cool off.
Be sure any and all folks working outside (heck inside with those temperatures) stay well hydrated. I don’t care what Ted Dura says. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty, drink anyway. Drink water today that you’ll sweat out tomorrow. They taught us in “Safety School” that if you’re not peeing once and hour you’re not drinking enough.
Y’all stay safe.
