I’m going to be a wimp and miss it due to the cold temperature.
This summer I had the TS out and saw both planets. I could see 4 moons of Jupiter and just make out that Saturn had rings.
Here in the north part of town I could not reliably find Saturn with my naked old eyes, but my wife could.
Due to the difference in brightness of the two planets, I doubt tonight’s view would be all that impressive impressive. Let me know if I’m wrong.
Too many clouds tonight to prepare for tomorrow.
I went out tonight to see it in a slight fog. Conditions were not ideal, as the fog drifted around, but every once in a while I got a decent view. Saturn is just a little higher than Jupiter! I have never seen them so close together (Obviously, no living person has). It was fantastic!
Tomorrow, the 21st, they will be just 6 arcminutes apart, and the following day, the 22nd, they will be 10 arcminutes apart.
I highly recommend making an effort to see them. Use whatever telescope you have: a total station or theodolite, astronomical telescope, or binoculars.
Sorry, I observed it an hour ago with binos & a night vision scope and it was not a big deal. Yup, I get it that it’s impossibly rare, but not spectacular. I’m a celestial nut, seen two total eclipses, massive comets and have observed Venus transits, love big meteor showers etc., but this was a who cares event; except for those who claim it’s the dawning of the Age of Aquarius which even the astrologers are denying.
Carry on fellow astronauts and enjoy witnessing celestial events with our powerful telescopes but this one was a mathematical conjunction hardly worth observing.
Snapped this with my phone (unmagnified) while waiting for my take-out order. The dot below is an incoming plane to McCarren Int??l.
I consider it to be well worth a peek.
Starts tonight and I??m in a good place to watch it. A line of sight perpendicular to my back porch (or ??Lanai? as the home sellers describe it) is NAZ 305 degrees so my sighting line is almost SW. Now if the clouds would get out of the way everything would be perfect. First time for me. ????

Here are my shots from last night:
Nice what did you take it with? (I??m at 28,81)
@flga-2
I’ll try tonight. Hopefully it will be above the tree line.
Andy
Clear as a bell tonight. Saw it quite well with my naked eye. My clothed eye couldn’t see it, though. ??? ???
